What a Late Review Means for You
We understand delays can happen for reasons beyond your control. A late review gives you a second chance to fight your IRS fail. There are no guarantees in a late review, but with the right documentation and a little help, it’s absolutely worth trying.
Some of the potential benefits include reduced financial penalties and having your licence and vehicle returned.
It’s well worth the effort.
- Rajveer Gill“These guys are simply the best at their work; they truly know what they are doing. They got me out of a one-year licence suspension as well as having serious charges dropped, which really saved me big time.”
Why it’s Worth Appealing a Late IRS Fail
A successful appeal of your Immediate Roadside Sanction (even a late appeal) can help you avoid serious potential consequences:
- You could lose your licence, which can greatly affect your independence
- Your Insurance rates may spike and stay high for years
- It can affect your job now or when trying to find a job in the future
- Your vehicle could be seized, leaving you without a reliable way of getting around
- Having your vehicle impounded – that just adds more unnecessary costs
- A suspension that stays on your Alberta driving record
Even if you don’t win, insurance companies may view your record more favorably if they see you made an effort to fight the charge.

How the Late Review Process Works
Eligibility check
The first thing we do is confirm whether you’re within 12 months of your IRS appeal. Then we’ll discuss if there were valid reasons for missing your appeal, this is more common than you may think.
Gather your evidence
You’ll need evidence such as medical records, statements, or proof of circumstances. You have one chance to submit everything, so it is important to ensure we are as thorough as possible.
Submit your late review application
This is done through the SafeRoads portal or a participating registry. There will also be a $50 fee at this point.
Wait for a decision
If the request is approved, we’ll have 7 calendar days to request a full IRS review – and we can guide you through this process as well.
